Understanding Accreditation
What does it mean when a university or college adopts a NextGenU.org course?

When a university or other educational institution adopts a NextGenU.org course, that course becomes part of their accredited program. In other words, the institution’s existing accreditation extends to the course as it is used within their degree or diploma program. This means that students enrolled through that institution can receive academic credit for the course as part of their accredited studies.

Are NextGenU.org courses themselves accredited?

Some of our courses are accredited, while others are open-access learning resources designed to be adopted and accredited by partner institutions.

  • Accredited programs:
Our Addiction Training Program for Health Professionals (ATHP) and Humanitarian U courses carry recognized professional development accreditations (HPass and NADAAC).

  • Adopted university use:
When a university, college, or training institution integrates a NextGenU.org course into its curriculum, that course is covered under the institution’s accreditation, allowing students to earn academic credit.

  • Open educational resources:
Many of our courses are freely available for self-study or for institutions to adopt. While not all are independently accredited, they are developed to meet or exceed academic and professional standards.
Access & Certificates
I completed a course, but I can’t access the final exam. What should I do?

Make sure all lessons and quizzes show as completed, then refresh the page or try another browser. If the exam is still locked, contact support@nextgenu.org with your account details, and we’ll help unlock it.

I finished my course, but I can’t download my certificate.

Once you pass the final exam and complete the course evaluation, your certificate will automatically unlock. If it doesn’t, email support@nextgenu.org and we’ll check your progress.

Do the certificates count toward degrees or professional credit?

Certificates show that you’ve completed a high-quality online course. Many learners use them for continuing education or professional development, but acceptance depends on each employer or university. Check with your institution or board for their policy.
